Welcome to Salem Counseling!
My name is Maureen Meagher. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Salem Counseling in Salem, Virginia. I have worked in the mental health community for over 35 years in a wide range of professional settings and have Master's Degrees in both Psychology and Counseling.

I am passionate about helping individuals enhance their quality of life through counseling services. My goal is to support my clients in creating a roadmap to seek direction within themselves.

Who does Salem Counseling serve?
Salem Counseling serves residents of Virginia 18+ who are interested in receiving telehealth counseling services. Individuals must be capable of using a computer and/or mobile devices to complete paperwork and participate in sessions.
What is Telehealth?
Counseling sessions are conducted using a confidential and professional secure platform called Simple Practice. Clients may use their mobile device, tablet, or desktop computer from their own private setting and should have a consistent internet signal available.
What does a session look like at Salem Counseling?
Your initial intake session will be 60 minutes and all following appointments will be about 45 minutes in length. Appointments are offered Monday - Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM. No weekend or evening appointments.
What kind of treatment approach does Salem Counsel take?
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Humanistic, and Mindfulness-Based (MBCT).
What kind of sessions does Salem Counseling offer?
Salem Counseling offers adult individual counseling sessions only. No couples, family, adolescent or child services offered.
What payment and insurance options are available?
Salem Counseling is in network with Anthem, Aetna, United Healthcare, Optima/Sentara, and Cigna. Private pay clients are also accepted.

Insurance co-pay or deductible payments are expected at the time of service. This allows clients to stay current with their payments.
